The living situation is in a clinical facility with separate floors for detox and residential care. All rooms are shared with a roommate to foster peer support. Private rooms and bathrooms are not available.
Is this a closed/locked facility?
While the program is voluntary, it is a contained campus. Clients are not locked in, but they are not permitted to leave the facility grounds on their own. Doing so would result in being discharged from the program.
Can I use my phone/laptop? Is smoking allowed?
Yes, smoking and vaping are permitted in a designated outdoor yard. Personal electronics like phones and laptops are not allowed. A landline phone is available for client use, and staff may permit phone access in case of an emergency (e.g., work, bills).
What should I bring? What should I leave at home?
Bring: About a week's worth of comfortable, modest clothing, new/unopened alcohol-free toiletries, ID and insurance cards, a list of important phone numbers, and any current prescriptions in their original bottles.

The program is co-ed for adults (18+). You will be in a community with a diverse population, including those with private insurance and some funded by MaineCare. The facility has a total capacity of 36 clients (20 detox, 16 residential).
What is the family involvement and visitation policy?
Family involvement is encouraged through a family program, workshops, and case management. On-site family visitation is allowed for clients in the residential program after they have completed their first week of treatment.
