Frequently Asked Questions

Program & Treatment

Why choose this program? What makes it different than other addiction treatment centers?

Our accredited program is set on a serene 36-acre campus, just an hour and a half from Nashville and Chattanooga. This peaceful backdrop allows you to heal away from daily pressures. Our relaxing and supportive environment helps you leave life's stresses behind as you begin your recovery journey.

What substance use disorder treatment programs do you offer?

We specialize in providing comprehensive care for substance use and dual diagnosis disorders. Our levels of care include medically supervised Detoxification and immersive Residential treatment programs.

How do you treat dual diagnosis / co-occurring disorders?

We treat co-occurring disorders with an integrated approach, addressing both addiction and mental health simultaneously. Our team is equipped to handle conditions such as Bipolar Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, and others alongside substance use.

What types of therapies are used in your addiction treatment programs?

We offer a diverse range of therapies to support holistic healing. This includes traditional evidence-based methods like CBT and DBT, as well as experiential therapies such as Equine Therapy and Adventure Therapy (including a ropes course). We also incorporate SMART Recovery and ensure all care is trauma-informed.

Does this program use the 12-Steps?

We believe in exposing clients to as many types of recovery as possible. While our program is not strictly 12-Step based, we do offer access to both in-house and outside 12-Step meetings. Participation is encouraged but not forced, and we also provide alternatives like SMART Recovery.

Is the program faith-based?

No, our program is clinically focused and not based on any specific faith or religion. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and belief systems.

How long has this facility been open?

Brooks Healing Center was founded in 2022.

Cost & Admission

What will my costs be for treatment?

Costs can vary. For self-pay clients, the estimated cost for the full program (Detox + Residential) is $35,000. A standalone Detox is approximately $10,000, and a standalone Residential stay is $25,000. Please call for an exact quote and insurance verification.

Do you accept insurance for substance use disorder treatment?

Yes, we are in-network with Cigna. We also work with most major PPO plans on an out-of-network basis, including BCBS, Multiplan, Tricare, Humana, and Aetna. We do not accept Medicaid.

Do you provide detoxification services?

Yes, we offer a comprehensive medical detoxification program to ensure clients can manage withdrawal symptoms safely and comfortably under 24/7 medical supervision before starting residential treatment.

Is Suboxone (MAT) permitted?

Yes, we support Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and the use of medications like Suboxone when it is deemed clinically appropriate by our medical team as part of a client's individualized treatment plan.

Daily Life, Rules & Family

How long will I be there?

The typical length of stay is 30 days for our residential program, which is preceded by a detox period that usually lasts between 3 to 7 days, depending on individual needs.

What is the living situation like? Can I get my own room?

The living situation is comfortable and communal. Our campus consists of 7 buildings on a 36-acre property that was formerly a bed and breakfast. All rooms are shared with a roommate to encourage peer support; private rooms are not available.

Is this a closed/locked facility?

No, our campus is not locked. Treatment is voluntary, and you are free to walk around the grounds, use the gym, and enjoy the outdoor space. However, it is a secure campus, and you cannot leave the property without supervision. Leaving against medical advice will result in discharge.

Can I use my phone or laptop? Is there WiFi?

To help clients focus on recovery, there is an initial 7-day electronics blackout period. After this, you are permitted to use your cell phone once a week under the supervision of a counselor. Laptops and other personal electronics are generally not permitted.

Is smoking/vaping allowed?

Yes, clients are permitted to smoke or vape in designated outdoor areas on the campus.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring about a week's worth of comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, alcohol-free personal hygiene items, prescription medications in their original bottles, your ID and insurance card. You may also bring tobacco products, reading material, and a small amount of cash.

What should I leave at home?

Please do not bring any drugs, alcohol, weapons, or products containing alcohol (e.g., mouthwash). Leave valuable items, excessive cash, revealing clothing, and electronics like laptops or gaming consoles at home to minimize distractions and ensure a safe environment.

Who provides care here? What is the makeup of the treatment team?

Our clinical care is primarily delivered by an on-site medical Nurse Practitioner (NP) and a psychiatric NP, who is also a medical doctor. This team operates under the supervision of a medical director, who is not typically on-site. You will have regular access to our dedicated NPs and counseling staff.

Who else will be in treatment with me? What is the occupancy?

You will be in treatment with other adults (18+) in a co-ed environment. Our clientele consists of privately insured or self-pay individuals seeking help for substance use and dual diagnosis. With a maximum capacity of 32 beds, we maintain an intimate and supportive community.

What is the family involvement and visitation policy?

Family involvement is encouraged through family therapy sessions. Regular contact is facilitated via phone calls or Zoom. In-person visits are generally not standard but can be arranged with the approval of the client's primary counselor.

What kind of aftercare and follow-up support is available?

While we do not offer our own outpatient or step-down programs, our team provides comprehensive discharge planning. We will work with you to create a solid aftercare plan and help coordinate your transition to the next appropriate level of care.
