Ascendant treats co-occurring disorders by integrating mental health care with addiction treatment, addressing both conditions simultaneously to ensure a more holistic and effective recovery.

We utilize evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Experiential Therapy, Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing.

Does this program use the 12-Steps?

Our core program is clinically-focused. However, we support clients who wish to engage with 12-Step programs and provide transportation and exposure to various meetings, including AA, NA, SMART Recovery, and Dharma Recovery.

No, our program is not faith-based. It is a clinical program that welcomes individuals of all beliefs and backgrounds.

What will my costs be for treatment?

Costs vary. Self-pay estimates are: Residential at $3,500/night. The 6-week PHP program is around $30,000, and the 10-week IOP program is around $22,500. It is best to call for an exact quote and insurance verification.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we are an out-of-network provider and work with most PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, and United Healthcare. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

Do you provide detoxification services?

Yes, we offer 24/7 medically monitored detoxification services as the first step in our continuum of care.

Is Suboxone (MAT) permitted?

Yes, we are a MAT-friendly facility. Suboxone is permitted. Methadone is also allowed, but only for clients on a dose of 40mg or less.

Daily Life & Rules

How long will I be there?

The typical length of stay is 5-7 days for detox and 28 days for the residential program. Our IOP program lasts for 10 weeks.

What is the living situation like? Can I get my own room?

The living situation is comfortable and communal, within a six-story townhouse in Manhattan. All rooms are shared with a roommate to foster peer support. Private rooms are not available.

Is this a closed/locked facility?

It is a structured facility. While the doors are not locked, clients are not permitted to leave the townhouse during their residential stay. Clients who wish to leave can do so against medical advice (AMA).

Can I use my phone/laptop? Is smoking allowed?

Vaping is permitted in designated areas, but cigarettes are not. We have a strict no-tech policy; personal electronics like phones and laptops are not allowed. Clients can use a landline for two 15-minute calls per day.

What should I bring?

Bring your ID, insurance cards, prescription medications in original bottles, 7-10 days of comfortable clothing, sneakers, and unopened, alcohol-free toiletries. You may also bring your vape device and factory-sealed refills.

What should I leave at home?

Leave all cell phones, laptops, and tablets at home. Also prohibited are cigarettes, weapons, outside food/drink, non-prescribed medications, products containing alcohol (perfume, mouthwash), and revealing clothing.

Support, Staff & Community

Who provides care here? Are there psychiatrists on staff?

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team. A medical doctor serves as the supervisor, while clients primarily interact with and receive care from our dedicated team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and nursing staff.

Who will be in treatment with me? What is the occupancy?

The program is co-ed for adults (18+) with private insurance. With a small capacity of only 18 beds, you will be part of an intimate and diverse community of peers all focused on recovery.

What is the family involvement and visitation policy?

On-site family visitation is not permitted. However, family involvement is encouraged through optional family therapy sessions, which can be a vital part of the healing process.

What kind of aftercare and follow-up support is available?

We provide robust aftercare planning. Clients can step down to our PHP and IOP programs located nearby. We also have an active Alumni Program to provide long-term connection and support after discharge.

What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment?

Inpatient (residential) treatment provides a 24/7, live-in environment for intensive, structured care. Outpatient programs like PHP and IOP allow clients to live at home or in sober living while attending treatment for several hours a day or week.
