Ascendant provides a seamless continuum of care to support clients at every stage of their recovery journey. From medically managed detox in a secure setting to structured residential care and flexible outpatient services, each program is designed to deliver the right level of support and therapeutic intensity to foster lasting sobriety in an urban environment.
Typical Length: 5-7 Days
The first step is a 24/7 medically monitored detox program. Under the care of NPs and nursing staff, clients are made comfortable and safe as their bodies are cleared of substances, preparing them for the next phase of treatment.
Typical Stay: 28 Days
The residential program is the core of treatment, where clients live on-site in the six-story townhouse. It features a structured schedule of individual therapy, group sessions, and activities in a substance-free environment.
Program Length: 6-10 Weeks
Located just two blocks away, PHP (Day Program) and IOP serve as crucial step-down levels of care. These programs provide robust clinical support while clients live more independently, helping them reintegrate into daily life while reinforcing recovery skills.
Environment & Accommodations
Ascendant offers a unique, structured recovery environment within a converted six-story townhouse in Manhattan. This urban setting provides a sophisticated, non-institutional feel, fostering a sense of community and focus. With a total capacity of just 18 beds, the center ensures an intimate atmosphere and an excellent staff-to-client ratio. The program is co-ed, with clients living in shared accommodations.

All clients share a room with a roommate, fostering peer support and accountability. Private rooms are not available.

Policies & Rules
While not a locked facility, clients are not permitted to leave the townhouse during treatment. They can access outdoor balconies for fresh air.
Medication-Assisted Treatment is supported. Suboxone is permitted. Methadone is allowed only for doses of 40mg or lower.
Vaping is permitted in designated areas. Traditional cigarettes and other tobacco products are strictly prohibited.
Personal cell phones and laptops are not permitted. Clients can make two 15-minute calls per day on a landline phone.
To maintain focus on treatment, on-site family visitation is not permitted. However, family therapy sessions are available as part of the program.
Alcohol-containing products, weapons, non-prescribed medications, cigarettes, outside food, and revealing clothing are strictly prohibited.

We utilize evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Experiential Therapy, Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing.
Our core program is clinically-focused. However, we support clients who wish to engage with 12-Step programs and provide transportation and exposure to various meetings, including AA, NA, SMART Recovery, and Dharma Recovery.

Yes, we are an out-of-network provider and work with most PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, and United Healthcare. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

The living situation is comfortable and communal, within a six-story townhouse in Manhattan. All rooms are shared with a roommate to foster peer support. Private rooms are not available.
It is a structured facility. While the doors are not locked, clients are not permitted to leave the townhouse during their residential stay. Clients who wish to leave can do so against medical advice (AMA).
Vaping is permitted in designated areas, but cigarettes are not. We have a strict no-tech policy; personal electronics like phones and laptops are not allowed. Clients can use a landline for two 15-minute calls per day.
Bring your ID, insurance cards, prescription medications in original bottles, 7-10 days of comfortable clothing, sneakers, and unopened, alcohol-free toiletries. You may also bring your vape device and factory-sealed refills.
Leave all cell phones, laptops, and tablets at home. Also prohibited are cigarettes, weapons, outside food/drink, non-prescribed medications, products containing alcohol (perfume, mouthwash), and revealing clothing.

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team. A medical doctor serves as the supervisor, while clients primarily interact with and receive care from our dedicated team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and nursing staff.
The program is co-ed for adults (18+) with private insurance. With a small capacity of only 18 beds, you will be part of an intimate and diverse community of peers all focused on recovery.
On-site family visitation is not permitted. However, family involvement is encouraged through optional family therapy sessions, which can be a vital part of the healing process.
We provide robust aftercare planning. Clients can step down to our PHP and IOP programs located nearby. We also have an active Alumni Program to provide long-term connection and support after discharge.
Inpatient (residential) treatment provides a 24/7, live-in environment for intensive, structured care. Outpatient programs like PHP and IOP allow clients to live at home or in sober living while attending treatment for several hours a day or week.
