Daily Life & Rules
How long will I be there?
The duration of treatment varies based on individual needs, but a typical stay in our residential program is between 30 and 90 days. Our men's aftercare program is a 90-day commitment.

Can I use my phone or laptop? Is smoking allowed?
Yes, smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas, but all products must be new upon arrival. Personal electronics like phones and laptops are not allowed. You may access your phone briefly under supervision to retrieve contact information, but you cannot keep it with you.
What should I bring?
Please bring your ID and insurance cards, any prescription medications in their original sealed bottles, 7-10 days of comfortable and modest clothing appropriate for New Hampshire weather, and unopened, alcohol-free toiletries. You may also bring a journal and a small amount of cash (under $100).
What should I leave at home?
Leave all electronics (cell phones, laptops), valuables, weapons, drugs or alcohol, and toiletries containing alcohol at home. Also, do not bring clothing with inappropriate or substance-related logos, or any outside food and drinks.
What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment?
Starting your recovery journey is a huge step, and we're here to walk you through each phase, beginning with Detoxification (Detox), a medically supervised process lasting roughly 3 to 7 days where we stabilize your body and manage painful withdrawal symptoms with medication, allowing you to feel secure and cared for despite the initial physical discomfort. Immediately following stabilization, we move into the 30-day Residential Treatment, which is a highly structured, intensive, and supportive environment where your only job is to focus on recovery through a packed schedule of individual and group therapy, education, and meetings, allowing you to feel safe and focused as we build your foundational coping skills. We then transition to the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with transitional housing, a step down where you live in supervised recovery housing but still commit to full days of therapy 5–7 days a week, enabling you to feel a sense of partial independence and empowerment as you begin to apply your new skills to a more realistic living situation. After PHP, the schedule loosens further into the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where your therapy schedule reduces to 3–5 sessions a week (usually evenings), giving you the freedom and responsibility to look for a job or return to school while feeling challenging but rewarding as you bridge the gap between treatment and daily life. Finally, the Sober Living / Aftercare phase is your long-term safety net, where you live in a structured home, pay rent, follow rules, and maintain a strong presence in the recovery community, allowing you to feel responsible and confident in your sobriety while living "real life" with a network of support.
Support, Staff & Community
Who provides care here? Are there psychiatrists on staff?
Our care team consists of licensed counselors, therapists, and Nurse Practitioners who provide medical oversight. We do not have psychiatrists or psychologists on staff.
Who else will be in treatment with me? What is your occupancy?
You will be in treatment with other adults (18+) from various backgrounds, many using New Hampshire Medicaid. Our total capacity is around 60 beds: the Keene facility holds 20, and the two men's houses hold 20 each. While detox is co-ed, all subsequent programming is gender-specific.
What is the family involvement and visitation policy?
Formal family involvement is primarily through our Family Therapy and Couples Therapy programs. There are typically no regular visiting hours, as the focus is on the client's intensive therapeutic work.
What kind of aftercare and follow-up support is available?
We offer a robust 90-day aftercare program for men in Manchester, which combines IOP and Structured Sober Living. We also have a strong Alumni Program to keep graduates connected to the recovery community.
What is the layout of the campus?
Our programs are located in residential houses, providing a comfortable, home-like atmosphere rather than a clinical or hospital setting. This helps foster a sense of community and normalcy during treatment.
Is there any follow-up after discharge?
Yes, we encourage graduates to join our Alumni Program and, for men, to step down into our 90-day aftercare program in Manchester for continued support.
