A Full Continuum of Care
Zinnia Health Exeter offers a structured path to recovery, with distinct programs tailored to each client's stage of healing. From the critical first step of detox to more independent outpatient care, each level provides the appropriate clinical intensity and support.
Typical Length: ~7 Days
Detox is the first phase of treatment, conducted in a secure unit with 24/7 medical supervision. The focus is on safely and comfortably managing withdrawal symptoms to stabilize clients for the next level of care.
Typical Stay: 14-28 Days
Following detox, the residential program provides a highly structured, substance-free living environment. Clients engage in a full schedule of individual counseling, group therapy, and other activities designed to address the root causes of addiction.
Program Length: 3-6 Weeks
PHP is a step-down program where clients attend treatment during the day and return to PHP housing or their own homes in the evening. This level of care helps individuals practice recovery skills in a real-world setting while maintaining strong clinical support. Optional housing is available.
Environment & Accommodations
Zinnia Health Exeter offers distinct living environments based on the level of care. The detox (25 beds) and residential (65 beds) programs are housed in a secure, clinical facility designed for safety and intensive treatment. The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers an optional housing component (44 beds) in separate, more home-like houses, which provides clients with greater independence. All programs are co-ed, but living quarters are gender-specific to ensure client comfort and safety.
Detox and residential clients are housed in a modern, secure facility with on-site medical and clinical staff available 24/7.
Rooms are shared, with one roommate in detox and up to five in residential. This arrangement fosters peer support and community.
For the PHP level of care, optional housing is provided in separate houses, offering a more independent, home-like living experience.
Policies & Rules
Secure Campus (Detox/Res)
The detox and residential programs are secure, meaning clients are not permitted to leave the property to ensure their safety during early recovery.
Medication-Assisted Treatment, including Suboxone, is fully supported as a tool for recovery and can be used long-term if clinically appropriate.
Smoking and vaping are permitted for clients in designated outdoor areas during scheduled break times.
Personal phones are prohibited in detox and residential. PHP clients have access to their phones outside of programming hours.
In-person visits are not permitted during detox or residential. PHP clients can see family during non-program hours.
Clients in PHP housing have a curfew of 9 PM on weekdays and 10 PM on weekends to provide structure and accountability.

Daily Life & Rules
Details on living arrangements, what to bring, and facility policies.
The length of stay is based on clinical need. Typical durations are about one week for detox, 14-28 days for residential treatment, and 3-6 weeks for our PHP program.
The living situation depends on the level of care. Detox and residential are in a secure clinical facility, while PHP has optional housing in separate houses. All rooms are shared with roommates; private rooms are not available.
Yes, our detox and residential programs are held in a secure, locked facility where clients cannot leave the property. This ensures safety and focus during the most intensive phases of treatment. Our PHP program offers more freedom.
Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated outdoor areas. Personal cell phones and laptops are not permitted in detox or residential care. Clients in our PHP program are allowed to have their phones.
Bring: 7-10 days of comfortable clothes, alcohol-free toiletries, ID and insurance cards, and any prescribed medications in their original bottles. You can bring your cell phone but you will not have access to it during inpatient.
Leave at home: Valuables, electronics (laptops, smartwatches), weapons, revealing clothing, outside food/drinks, and non-prescribed medications or supplements.
Inpatient treatment (also called residential care) means you live at the facility 24/7, with round-the-clock supervision, medical support, and a highly structured schedule focused entirely on recovery in a controlled, trigger-free environment. PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) is outpatient, so you go to treatment during the day — usually 5–6 days per week for several hours — but return home or to sober living at night. Inpatient is more intensive and best for people who need medical stabilization, detox support, or a break from their environment, while PHP is ideal once someone is medically stable and able to manage evenings and weekends outside the facility with structure and accountability.
