A Focused Path to Recovery
Vista Taos provides a focused and structured path to recovery, beginning with safe medical detox and transitioning into an immersive residential program. Their approach is designed to stabilize clients and provide them with the foundational tools of the 12-Steps needed for long-term sobriety.
Typical Length: Varies by substance and need
The first step for many clients, medical detox at Vista Taos ensures a safe and comfortable withdrawal process under the care of nurses and a Physician's Assistant. This prepares clients to fully engage in the therapeutic aspects of the residential program.
Typical Stay: 30 Days
The core of the Vista Taos experience is its 30-day residential program. Clients live on-site in a supportive, home-like environment, participating in daily individual and group therapy, 12-Step meetings, and holistic activities designed to heal mind, body, and spirit.
Program Launching Soon
Vista Taos is actively developing an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), including a virtual option, to provide a crucial step-down level of care. This will allow clients to continue receiving support while reintegrating into their daily lives.
Environment & Accommodations
Vista Taos offers a unique healing environment that feels more like a bed and breakfast than a clinical facility. Nestled in the mountains of New Mexico, the center features traditional adobe architecture and is adorned with local Taos art. With a small capacity of only 18 beds, the atmosphere is intimate and family-like, ensuring personalized attention for every client. The co-ed program houses clients in comfortable semi-private rooms, each with its own private porch or patio and an en-suite bathroom shared with one roommate.
The cozy, home-like setting with adobe architecture helps clients feel comfortable and safe, promoting a more relaxed recovery process.
Intimate Setting (18 Beds)
The very small client census ensures a high staff-to-client ratio and allows for highly individualized treatment plans and attention.
Every client shares a room and a private bathroom with one other person, fostering peer connection and support.
Policies & Rules
This is not a locked facility. Clients can use an on-site walking path but are not permitted to leave the property unsupervised. Lights out is at 11 PM.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with drugs like Suboxone is not permitted. Vista Taos follows an abstinence-based model.
Smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas. Clients must bring enough cigarettes for their entire 30-day stay.
To help clients focus on their recovery, personal electronics like cell phones and laptops are strictly prohibited.
To maintain an immersive and focused therapeutic environment, on-site family visits are not part of the program.
Outside food/candy, over-the-counter medications, revealing clothing, and electronics are among the items not allowed.

While not affiliated with any specific religion, our program is 12-Step based, which includes a spiritual component. We offer spiritual guidance to help clients connect with a higher power of their own understanding.
