What is the living situation like? Can I get my own room?

The living situation is dorm-style. You will share a room with two other clients. Private rooms are not available, as the shared living space is designed to foster community and peer support.

Is this a closed/locked facility?

No, it is an open campus, not a locked facility. Clients can walk around the grounds, but they are not permitted to leave the property unless on a staff-supervised outing.

Can I use my phone/laptop? Is smoking allowed?

Yes, smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas. Personal electronics like phones and laptops are locked up to help clients focus on recovery. Cell phones can be used on Wednesday nights, and landlines are available at specific times daily.

What should I bring? What should I leave at home?

Bring: About a week's worth of comfortable clothing, a jacket, ID and insurance cards, toiletries, an alarm clock, and a small amount of cash. You can also bring your own pillow and twin bedding.
Leave at home: Valuables, electronics (phones, laptops), revealing clothing, and items with alcohol or drug logos.

Who provides care here? Are there psychiatrists on staff?

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team. While the medical director is a psychiatrist, clients are primarily seen by a psychiatric nurse practitioner for medication management. The team also includes licensed therapists, counselors, nurses, and support staff.

Who will be in treatment with me?

You will be in treatment with a diverse group of adults (18+) who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. With a capacity of 42 clients, the environment is communal and supportive, with clients from various backgrounds, including those with private insurance and state-funded plans.

What is the family involvement and visitation policy?

Family involvement is encouraged through family therapy sessions. On-site family visitation is allowed on Saturdays from 2 PM to 5 PM.
