A Gradual Path to Independence
Freedom Recovery is built on a step-down model of care that empowers clients to gradually build autonomy and apply recovery skills in a real-world setting. The journey begins with intensive, structured programming and evolves to support increasing levels of personal responsibility and community reintegration.
Typical Length: 6 Weeks
This is the primary level of care, where clients attend all-day Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) groups five days a week. They reside in gender-specific apartment units with roommates, learning to manage daily life—like cooking and chores—while immersed in a supportive recovery community. In the evenings and on weekends, they attend 12-step meetings and participate in sober activities.
Program Length: Varies (Step-Down Model)
As clients progress, they step down to IOP. The frequency of sessions gradually decreases from five days a week to as little as one day per week. This flexible structure allows individuals to return to work, school, and family life while still receiving consistent clinical support. Clients can continue to live in program housing or transition to their own homes during this phase, with the entire step-down process potentially lasting up to a year for comprehensive support.
Environment & Accommodations
Freedom Recovery offers a unique, community-based treatment experience centered around apartment-style living. Instead of a traditional, isolated campus, clients live in gender-specific units within a larger apartment complex. This model is designed to teach real-world life skills, accountability, and peer support. With a maximum capacity of 56 clients, the program maintains a close-knit feel, while group therapy sessions typically consist of 15-25 people. This setup fosters a balance of structured programming and personal independence.
Clients live in actual apartments, not dorms or hospital rooms, promoting a sense of normalcy and responsibility for their living space.
Each apartment unit houses 2-4 clients in shared bedrooms, encouraging peer support and preventing isolation.
While clinical programming and community activities are co-ed, all apartment units are strictly designated as either male or female.
Policies & Rules
This is not a locked facility. Staff provides transportation initially, but after 30 days, clients can earn passes to leave housing before curfew.
Medication-Assisted Treatment is fully supported. Clients can continue on medications like Suboxone and Methadone throughout their stay.
Smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas of the apartment complex, respecting community rules.
Personal cell phones are allowed. This policy is designed to teach clients how to manage real-world triggers and responsibilities.
After the first 30 days of treatment, clients can earn passes for off-site activities and are eligible for family visits.
A strict zero-tolerance policy is in place for alcohol or illicit drug use. Random drug testing is conducted to ensure a safe environment.

However, admissions staff have also described the program as not being faith-based. We recommend calling directly to discuss the role of faith in their program to see if it aligns with your needs.

Our residential program combines PHP (all-day therapy) with community housing, offering an immersive experience. Support, Staff & Community
Information on the care team, family involvement, and peer environment.
Care is primarily provided by licensed counselors and support staff. While we do not have psychiatrists on-site, we partner with third-party medical providers who offer psychiatric and nurse practitioner services via telehealth.
You will be in treatment with a diverse group of co-ed adults (18+). Our clients come from various backgrounds and utilize Medicaid, private insurance, or self-pay options. Our maximum capacity is 56 clients, and therapy groups typically have 15-25 participants.
Family visits are permitted after a client has been in the program for 30 days. While formal family therapy is not a primary component, we encourage family support and communication as part of the recovery process.
Our primary aftercare offering is our own step-down Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients can seamlessly transition from the residential level of care to IOP, gradually reducing their time in therapy while increasing their independence. Unfortunately, there is no formal follow-up after a client fully discharges from the program.
