Frequently Asked Questions
Program & Treatment
Why choose us? What makes it different than other addiction treatment centers?
Freedom Recovery stands out for its community-based, apartment-living model that promotes real-world skills. They are MAT-friendly, accept Ohio Medicaid, and offer a long-term step-down IOP program, providing a practical and accessible path to recovery.
What substance use disorder treatment programs do you offer?
We offer a continuum of care starting with a Residential program (PHP with housing) followed by a step-down Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
How do you treat dual diagnosis?
We address co-occurring mental health conditions through our evidence-based therapy programs. For medication management and psychiatric evaluations, we partner with third-party psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who provide services via convenient telehealth appointments.
What types of therapies do you use in your addiction treatment programs?
Our clinical approach is evidence-based, utilizing therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing, primarily delivered in a group setting.
Does this program use the 12-steps?
Yes, 12-step principles are a component of the program. While the core clinical model is evidence-based, we transport clients to several community 12-step meetings per week. Participation in meetings is expected, but working the steps is a personal choice.
Is the program faith-based?
There are conflicting reports on this. The program was founded by Christians and may have faith elements or encourage belief in a higher power. However, admissions staff have also described the program as not being faith-based. We recommend calling directly to discuss the role of faith in their program to see if it aligns with your needs.
How long has this facility been open?
Freedom Recovery was founded and began serving the community in 2016.
Do you treat co-occurring mental disorders?
Yes, we treat co-occurring mental health disorders alongside substance use through an integrated approach.
Cost & Admission
What will my costs be for treatment?
Costs vary based on the level of care. As an estimate, the residential (PHP with housing) program costs between $12,000 and $15,000 per month. The IOP program starts at around $2,200 per month for five sessions per week, with the cost decreasing as the frequency of sessions steps down. Please call for a precise quote.
Do you accept insurance for substance use disorder treatment?
Yes, we accept Ohio Medicaid plans (including CareSource, Buckeye, Molina) and most major private insurance plans such as United Healthcare, Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and others.
Do you provide detoxification services?
No, we do not offer on-site medical detox. Clients must be medically stabilized before entering our residential program. We can provide referrals to trusted detox facilities if needed.
Is Suboxone (MAT) permitted?
Yes, our program is MAT-friendly. We fully support clients who are on medications like Suboxone. We can also accommodate clients on Methadone, although we do not prescribe it on-site.
Daily Life, Rules & Family
How long will I be there?
The core residential (PHP) program typically lasts for six weeks. Following that, clients can continue in our step-down IOP and housing for up to a year, gradually decreasing their clinical hours as they reintegrate into the community.
What is the living situation like? Can I get my own room?
You will live in a gender-specific apartment with 2 to 4 roommates. All rooms are shared, as the community living model is a key part of our program. There are no private rooms available.
Is this a closed/locked facility?
No, this is an open campus. During the first 30 days, staff provides transportation for all necessary trips. After 30 days, clients in good standing can earn passes to leave the housing for approved activities before curfew.
Can I use my phone or laptop? Is smoking allowed?
Yes, you are allowed to have and use your personal cell phone. Yes, smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas of the apartment complex.
What should I bring with me?
Bring about a week's worth of comfortable, modest clothing, personal toiletries, your ID and insurance information, any prescribed medications in their original bottles, and your cell phone and charger. It is also a good idea to bring a small amount of spending money for groceries and personal items.
What should I leave at home?
Please leave all illicit substances, alcohol, weapons, and non-prescribed medications at home. Avoid bringing excessive cash, valuable jewelry, or items that could be disruptive to the community environment. Clothing with inappropriate or substance-related graphics is not permitted.
What is the layout of the campus?
Our program is based in an apartment complex. Clients reside in dedicated, gender-specific apartment units and attend programming at our nearby clinical office.
What is the difference between inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment?
Our residential program combines PHP (all-day therapy) with community housing, offering an immersive experience. Our outpatient program (IOP) involves fewer hours of therapy per week (typically 3-5 days for 3 hours a day) while you live at home or in sober living, allowing for more flexibility to work or attend school.
Who provides care here? Are there psychiatrists on staff?
Care is primarily provided by licensed counselors and support staff. While we do not have psychiatrists on-site, we partner with third-party medical providers who offer psychiatric and nurse practitioner services via telehealth.
Who else will be in treatment with me? What is their occupancy?
You will be in treatment with a diverse group of co-ed adults (18+). Our clients come from various backgrounds and utilize Medicaid, private insurance, or self-pay options. Our maximum capacity is 56 clients, and therapy groups typically have 15-25 participants.
What is the family involvement and visitation policy?
Family visits are permitted after a client has been in the program for 30 days. While formal family therapy is not a primary component, we encourage family support and communication as part of the recovery process.
What kind of aftercare and follow-up support is available?
Our primary aftercare offering is our own step-down Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Clients can seamlessly transition from the residential level of care to IOP, gradually reducing their time in therapy while increasing their independence. Unfortunately, there is no formal follow-up after a client fully discharges from the program.
