A Full Continuum of Care
The Freedom Center provides a step-down model of treatment, allowing clients to transition smoothly between levels of care as they progress in their recovery. Each phase is designed to build upon the last, fostering greater independence and reinforcing coping skills.
24/7 Medical Supervision
The journey begins with a medically supervised detox to ensure clients can manage withdrawal symptoms safely and comfortably. This phase provides the physical and mental stability needed to fully engage in the therapeutic process.
Typical Stay: 30 Days
In the residential phase, clients live on-site and participate in a highly structured schedule of individual therapy, group counseling, and holistic activities. This immersive environment helps build a strong foundation for recovery away from outside triggers.
Typical Stay: 2-5 Months
As clients progress, they step down to Partial Hospitalization (PHP) or Intensive Outpatient (IOP). These programs provide robust clinical support for several hours a day, multiple days a week, while allowing clients to live at home or in sober living and begin reintegrating into work, school, and family life.
Environment & Accommodations
The Freedom Center provides a warm, non-clinical environment designed for comfort and healing. Treatment and housing are situated in beautiful Victorian-style homes in a quiet Gaithersburg neighborhood. The total capacity is small, with a maximum of 16 clients across the program, ensuring an intimate and supportive atmosphere. Clients are housed in gender-specific residences, with approximately 8 people per house. This home-like setting fosters a strong sense of community and peer support, which are vital components of the recovery process.
Clients live and receive treatment in comfortable, well-appointed houses, not a sterile hospital environment.
All rooms and bathrooms are shared, which helps build accountability, camaraderie, and connection among peers.
While some therapy groups may be co-ed, residential housing is strictly separated by gender to create a safe and focused environment.
Policies & Rules
The facility is not locked down. Clients are expected to be accountable to the program structure and their peers, fostering real-world responsibility.
The Freedom Center supports clients on Suboxone maintenance, allowing them to continue their prescribed dosage. They do not initiate Suboxone treatment or manage methadone.
To help clients focus on their primary recovery, smoking and vaping are permitted in designated outdoor areas.
For privacy (HIPAA) and to maintain focus, personal cell phones and laptops are not permitted. Clients have access to a facility phone for approved calls.
Family involvement is a key part of the program. Therapist-approved family visits are allowed on weekends, and family therapy is offered.
Clients are required to attend all scheduled therapy sessions, group activities, and meetings as part of their personalized treatment plan.
